

New in Autodesk Inventor 2017, Awesome Mesh support Autodesk Inventor 2017 enables end to end round tripping of scanned to 3D printed data by enabling Mesh based models. Keep in mind I believe it keeps as a default when you change that and you may have to go back and return it to whatever units you normally save in. Evan, What I did is when you go to open your. stl file single select the file you want to open so it is highlighted and down at the bottom there is an Options button, click that and it opens a window, under Units there is an Import Units button, switch that to mm or in depending on how your file was saved out originally.



Select the Model Workspace and then to convert the mesh to a solid body all you’ll have to do is right click on the mesh and select “Mesh to BRep.” You’ll then see in the dialogue box that you can have it create a new body or a new component. The Mesh enabler changes this, it converts the Mesh to a base feature, which means that you can manipulate it in Inventor, and even make changes in Fusion. The geometry came in, and we could not manipulate it, or do any drawing based on it. In 2013 we got the ability to open STL files,īut they came in as Mesh files, which meant that we could not do anything with the geometry. In the 2012 version, we were able to open Catia Mesh files and JT files, and convert these to Solids, which was great functionality.
